We are all called to be disciples and to make disciples.  The words Jesus spoke to his disciples should ring in our ears. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28: 19 ESV)

One of the challenges we all face is learning to be a disciple. In bible study we are looking at some of the events in Peter’s life.  We all have a lot of ups and downs in life. There are times when we walk close to God and other times of denial.  I believe one thing Jesus wanted to teach Peter, the other disciples and even us is what it means to die.  Isn’t that what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 16:24-26 “If anyone would come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”  Everyday we are challenged to deny ourselves and take up his cross (die) and follow.  Far to often we pursue the worldly things when God wants us to focus on being a disciple.  What are the things we need to die to daily to follow Christ?
